Bodegas Salentein introduces its new icon wine: Salentein Gran VU Blend

Award-winning winery Bodegas Salentein has launched its new icon wine, the Salentein Gran ‘Valle de Uco’ Blend, to be presented worldwide with launch events planned in Mendoza, Buenos Aires, New York, London, Amsterdam, Zurich and Shanghai.

The 2011 vintage wine, aged in French oak barrels for 24 months, expresses the terrior of the Valle de Uco (Uco Valley) offering a unique blend of Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon, with only a limited number of bottles produced. The icon wine also characterises the philosophy of Salentein’s chief winemaker, José Galante, who has developed some of the leading wines to come out of Argentina. Together with the entrepreneurial and visionary spirit of its founder Myndert Pon, Bodegas Salentein is recognised as the pioneer winery in the Uco Valley.

“Commenting on the launch, José Galante said: “Our Gran VU Blend represents and celebrates the year-on-year commitments that Bodegas Salentein has made in the Valle de Uco. This wine is the pinnacle of work and research in our quest to understand the terroir and produce the best wines in Argentina. Having taken this trajectory and travelled on this road with grapes from many different regions of Mendoza, I am convinced that we have found the vineyards and varietals to perfect this blend. With nearly 40 years of winemaking experience behind me, the Gran VU Blend is what I consider to be the best representation of the Valle de Uco and Argentinian wines.”

José Galante, Chief Winemaker of Bodegas Salentein.
